Joanne’s background exemplifies the emerging strategic role of human capital management in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, as a member of the executive team, she held both human resources and P&L responsibilities at the largest American Red Cross regional office where she led efforts to regionalize chapters in New York City and seven counties, simplifying team organizational structures, consolidating back office operations, and increasing efficiencies through a shift towards a shared services model. Earlier, she built a global human capital function for the International AID Vaccine Initiative to support that fast growing entrepreneurial nonprofit’s successful expansion to 23 countries. Her career began at GE, an organization recognized for its cutting edge human capital management practices, where she won awards for leading business improvement and strategic change initiatives.
Among other speaking events, Joanne has presented to the Social Enterprise Summit hosted by the Harvard Business School Club of New York and the Rising Association Growth Executives, a group that trains high potential nonprofit staff. Joanne received her BS in management from SUNY Empire State College.
