AchieveMission selects and enrolls seven prominent nonprofits in its 2012 cohorts
With the addition of the newest cohort, Talent Initiative’s alumni and current participants include four winners of the Fast Company/Monitor Social Capitalist Award, three Social Innovation Fund recipients, four organizations led by Ashoka Fellows or Skoll Social Entrepreneurs, and two named by the Nonprofit Times as among the 50 Best Places to Work in the nonprofit sector. “These outstanding organizations are among the most innovative and highest-impact nonprofits in the country. Creating a Culture of Talent: AchieveMission, Corporation for Supportive Housing, and Kresge Foundation profiled in series on best-practice strategies for investing in nonprofit Talent and Leadership Development
Emerging Practioners in Philanthropy (EPIP), an affinity group of the Council on Foundations, today released a case study on the impact the Corporation for Supportive Housing achieving through its enrollment in AchieveMission's Talent Initiative program. The program, made available with key support from the Kresge Foundation, provides a way for foundation's to not just invest in the development of individual leaders but to build leadership development capabilities into an organization's DNA. Said, Caroline Altman Smith of the Kresge Foundation, "This is a way to support the growth and development of our grantees. AchieveMission’s efforts will strengthen them and make them more sustainable... It’s also been exciting for us to join with other funders, like W.K. Kellogg Foundation, [that] are committed to these same issues.”

AchieveMission plays leadership role at White House Forum on Nonprofit Leadership
On Tuesday, November 15th the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation and the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships co-convened a national forum on nonprofit leadership. AchieveMission's Board Chair, James Weinberg, and CEO, James Shepard, led key sessions. The forum's goals and strategies are now the foundation for a national cross-sector effort to better prepare, train and sustain leaders—The Initiative for Nonprofit Talent and Leadership.
