Are You Using Recognition Effectively?

This article argues that while most managers understand that recognizing staff accomplishments is important, many do not understand how to do so effectively. The author posits that effective recognition is frequently delivered, reflects organizational values and goals, is appropriate to the achievement, and is tailored to the individual. She makes the point that recognition should be given for interim milestones, not just at the end of a project. Finally, team recognition is appropriate for a project that has team goals but shouldn’t become a form of blanket recognition.
