Who Has the D?

The article argues that highly effective organizations make good decisions quickly. In a survey of 350 global companies, they found that the top 15% cited effective decision making as a driver of success. The authors present a framework for improving decision making by fixing the areas where bottlenecks typically form: global vs. local, center vs. site/unit, between functions, and inside vs. outside partners. The exploration of these bottlenecks and ways to resolve them distinguish the article from others about decision making. The article is written with corporations in mind, but the nonprofits AchieveMission has worked with have identified many of the same bottlenecks, and have been able to address them through this or similar models for an improve decision-making process.
